Geraldine C (Connors) Hanson , VRHS Class of 1949
Geraldine C. Hanson, 86, of Hearthstone Village, Latham, passed away on August 15, 2017, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the last survivor of 10 children born to Thomas and Katherine Scheurer Connors. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, Fred, Martin, Joseph, Harvey, William, and James Connors; and her sisters, Margaret Fyvie and Loretta Bardelli. Survived by her beloved best friend and sister-in-law, Rita Connors. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. A graduate of Van Rensselaer High School, she retired from New York State Civil Service, after working in several state agencies. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. Francis Chapel in Colonie. She is survived by her children, Scott Hanson of Albany, Karen Cole of Raymond, N.H., Steven (Jean) Hanson of Rotterdam, and Jennifer (Eric) Heller of Colonie. She is also survived by her loving canine companion, Sadie. She was the devoted grandmother to Casey Hanson, Regina Hanson, Nick Hanson, David Penny, Meaghan Penny, Connor Cole, Carly Cole, Clare Cole and Caoilainn Cole. She loved and will be missed by her extended family, Judith Hanson, Kathy (Greg) DeCenzo, Talia DeCenzo, Antoni DeCenzo, Kassia DeCenzo, Ezio DeCenzo and Caydence Ryan.
