Robert Henchey , VRHS Class of 1958

Henchey, Robert H. RENSSELAER Robert H. Henchey, age 70 years, of Cedar Run, Rensselaer, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. He was born in Albany and lived in Rensselaer, North Greenbush and East Greenbush. Bob was owner and operator of Henchey's in Rensselaer and was last employed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Rensselaer. He was a member of Rensselaer Council #267 K of C and was a member of the Elks. Bob was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers, Cleveland Browns football team, Tri City Valley Cats and his biggest joy was watching his grandchildren play ball. Mr. Henchey was very active in fund raising, raising funds for the Center for Disability Services, ALS Center at St. Peter's Hospital, Salvation Army and Sports Nights at the Rensselaer K of C for 13 years. Husband of Rita Barner Henchey of Rensselaer; father of Robert (Stephanie) Henchey of Brooksville, Fla. and Thomas (Elizabeth) Henchey of East Greenbush; grandfather of Kyle, Ryan, Mikayla and Riley; son of the late Joseph T. and Edith A. Pelton Henchey; brother of the late Joseph T. Henchey and Patricia Downes. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Evergreen Commons for their care, concern and support shown to us and to Bob. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Thursday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in East Greenbush, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
