James E McLaughlin , VRHS Class of 1958

McLaughlin, James E. ALBANY James E. McLaughlin, age 70 years, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.

He was born in Utica, grew up in Rensselaer and has lived in Albany for 30 years. Over the years James was known as "Squint," "Fingers" and "Pigeon." Squint was a 1958 graduate of Van Rensselaer High School in Rensselaer, where he was the yearbook art editor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Maury. Fingers was an avid artist who was very talented. He loved to play darts, daily numbers and OTB. Fingers was at one time a coach for Twin Town Little League, was interested in Navy history and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He was very close to the late Sister Mary Eucharia, RSM. Fingers gave of himself artistically to his community. Pigeon was a taxi driver for several taxi companies in the Capital District. Son of the late Thomas F. and Dorothy A. Nordell McLaughlin; father of Dorothy Mitchell of Troy, Michael P. McLaughlin of Greenville, S.C., and Timothy C. McLaughlin of Taylors, S.C.; grandfather of Duane and Donelle Mitchell and Michael P. and Christine A. McLaughlin. Brother of John and Thomas McLaughlin; former husband of Theresa McLaughlin. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be from the W.J. Jr. Lyons Funeral Home. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
