James "Jimmy" D Leahey , VRHS Class of 1972

Leahey, James D. EAST GREENBUSH James D. Leahey, age 57 years, passed into eternal life at his residence on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. "Jimmy" was born in Albany and was a lifelong resident of the Capital District. He was the son of Frances A. (Burek) Leahey and the late J. Donald Leahey.

For 30 years, Jimmy was an outstanding production technician for National Gypsum in the Port of Rensselaer. Jimmy will be remembered for his pride and dedication as he served his community as a coach and groundskeeper for the East Greenbush Girls Softball League for several years. Those who knew Jimmy will remember him as a passionate advocate for the young people he served. Jimmy was forever quoting movie lines from his favorite actors Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and Henry Fonda. He loved everything about the Adirondacks and was really quite the buff on the topic.
Jimmy was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Yankees.

Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Karen J. (Brady); son, Jeffrey James and his wife Alison; daughter, Jessica Jean and daughter, Caitlin Frances; grandchildren, Meaghan and Christopher James; his sisters, Jane (Jeffry) and Brenda; his brothers, Bryan (Linda), Jeffrey (Robin), and Christopher (Mina); his mother-in-law, Jean V. Brady; his brother-in-law, James J. Brady Jr. and his wife Valerie; his dear family friend, Gordon F. Reynolds; his nephews, Matthew Leahey, Gordon Reynolds, Michael Leahey, Corey Brown, and Chad (Megan) Brady; his nieces, Christine Reynolds, Brianne Leahey, Courtney Leahey, Schuyler Leahey, Mariah Leahey, and Peyton Leahey. Jimmy was predeceased by his father-in-law, James J. Brady.

Funeral services at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Homewith interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made in Jimmy's memory to any charitable organization or to the Caitlin Leahey College Scholarship Fund.
