Danny Sanchez , VRHS Class of 1965
Rensselaer- Daniel. J. Sanchez, Jr., age 75, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Albany Medical Center. Daniel was born in Albany and was the son of Mary, and the late Daniel Sanchez, Sr. He was an avid whitetail hunter, enjoying every moment he spent in the woods. Danny was a race car driver and won a sportsman championship in 1970 at Lebanon Valley, and continued his passion through his son and grandson as they followed in his footsteps. Dan enjoyed watching baseball and very rarely missed a Yankees game. He was a self-employed contractor and thoroughly enjoyed going to work every day. Danny was never afraid to try anything and was known to tinker and fix anything before buying new. Above all, he loved his family and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Danny is survived and will be dearly missed by his mother Mary Sanchez; his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Rowe Sanchez; his sons, Daniel M. Sanchez (Samantha), Joseph M. Sanchez (Michele), and Robert F. Sanchez (Elizabeth). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel S., Alexis, Alyssia, Kristina, Christian, Victoria, and Ryleigh, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Sandra Collins (the late Bob), Fran Alberti (Les), Michael Sanchez (Pat), Bea Sanchez, the late Tom (survives, Sandi), Mary Bauer (survives, Chuck), and Vicky Fluery (Mark.) Funeral will be held at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 5pm. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Dan's memory to Conservation Fund Donation dec.ny.gov
