Patricia "Nancy" (Jones) Gootz , VRHS Class of 1967

Patricia "Nancy" (Jones) Gootz, 72, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Beloved wife and mother, she was pre-deceased by her husband of 46 years Douglas Gootz. She leaves behind daughter Cassandra "Casey" (Gootz) Becker (David); son Aaron Gootz (Heather Loucks); daughter Rebecca "Becky" (Gootz) Ingram (Mickey); son Justin Gootz (Rachelle Daus); two grandsons Xavier and Nyle Ingram; granddaughter Serinda Becker; siblings; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is also predeceased by her parents and sister Yvonne (Jones) Daniel.

Nancy was born in Stamford, NY to Russell Jones and Mildred Anita Gloria (Simmons) (Jones) Lauer. She graduated from Rensselaer High School and made a living as a mother and customer service representative in the medical and food service industries. She served as various scout and troop leaders and made her home welcome to all of the neighborhood children. She took great pride in the fact that extended family and her children's friends all called her "mom".

Nancy had a huge heart of gold, and her family and friends were her world. Anyone in need could call on her at any time and she would be there in any way she could. As a loyal Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy watcher, family and friends knew not to disturb her between 7-8pm. She was an avid fan of Westerns, Sam Elliot, the music of Kenny Rogers and Food Network programming. She loved Christmas and took pride in her villages, nativity, and boxes of homemade Christmas treats.

Nancy's daily "Morning" texts, her customized birthday dinners, homemade sweet treats and jerkies, and most of all her smile and hugs will be deeply missed.

Calling hours were held at the Castleton Funeral Home, Castleton, NY. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to American Cancer Society Relay For Life fundraising efforts at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/cbecker.
