Judith "Judy" (LaPorta) Lewis , VRHS Class of 1967

RENSSELAER Judith LaPorta Lewis, age 62 years, of Third Street, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2011. She was born in Albany, and was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer.

Judy was employed as a teacher aide for the Rensselaer City School District, and in the summer she worked for the Rensselaer City Youth Bureau for over 10 years. She was also employed by the NY Telephone Co. and Sterling Winthrop. Judy was a founding member of Rensselaer Pop Warner, and was very active in the Parents Student Teacher Association in Rensselaer. She enjoyed cooking, affectingly known as the "Meatball Queen", and was an Avid fan of the NY football Giants.

Wife of Pat Robert Lewis of Rensselaer. Mother of Paul (Stacey) Lewis of Latham, Scott (Julie) Lewis of Annapolis, Md., Brian (Cara) Lewis of Townsend, Del. and Amanda (Jason "Spanky") Santaski of Rensselaer. Daughter of the late James and Jane Morse LaPorta. Sister of Richard J. (Mary Jane) LaPorta of Clifton Park, Gail (Thomas) Carney of Rensselaer, Robert (Janet) LaPorta of Sand Lake, Roger (Nancy) LaPorta of Rensselaer, Debra (John) Yonkers of Rensselaer, Michael (Michelle) LaPorta of Rensselaer, Sandra (Clifford) Braley of Rensselaer and the late Carolyn Tateo. She was the Meme of 12 grandchildren, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
