Josephine (Pardo) Farrell , VRHS Class of 1948

Josephine H. Farrell, 92 of Rensselaer, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at her home. Josephine was born on December 13, 1930, in Marlborough, N.Y., the daughter of Manuel Pardo and Rosina (Tudico) Pardo. Josephine was proud of her role as a homemaker for her family. Everything she did revolved around them. She was a Brownie leader, member of the Miller Hose Ladies Auxiliary and was the co-owner operator of a corner grocery store in Prospect Heights with her husband, her brother Sonny and his wife, Irene. She spent many years babysitting her grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. Her door was open to anybody that needed her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William F. Farrell Jr.; and recently by her grandson, Jeffrey Reilly. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marie Lyon; brother, Joseph Pardo; brother-in-law, Richard; and sisters-in-law, Helen, Rita, Elizabeth, Mildred, and Theresa. Survivors include her children, Sheila (Robert) Reilly, William (Sue) Farrell III, Kenneth Farrell, Bruce Farrell, and Dawn (Brian) Gerrain; her grandchildren, Scott (Libby) Reilly, Colleen Reilly, Chad Farrell, Brittany (Eric) DeWind, William Farrell, Tieryn Farrell, Brendan Ger-rain, Taylor Gerrain; and eight great-grandchildren, Quinn, Andrew, Shea, Jack, Natalie, Aidan, Niamh, and Tyler, with another great-granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Coogan, and wonderful lifelong friends. Her favorite pastime was weeding her gardens. She requested that we thank the many kind people of Prospect Heights who would stop to check on her when she was working in her yard, as she did this while lying on the ground. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josephine's memory may be made to the Center for Donation & Transplant, 218 Great Oaks Blvd., Albany, NY, 12203.
