Van Vorst, Hooper V. RENSSELAER Hooper V. Van Vorst, 77, of Rensselaer died on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.

Hooper was born in Rensselaer, the son of the late Hooper V. and Marge (Elseworth) Van Vorst. Hooper was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and later became a pipe fitter for BASF where he retired after 39 years of service. Hooper was a member of the Troy Elks, a life member of the Rensselaer Fire Department, and a vestrymen member of the Church of the Redeemer in Rensselaer. Hooper was also the longstanding Santa Claus for the city of Rensselaer and a volunteer at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center.

Hooper was the beloved husband of Georgia L. (Conway) Van Vorst; devoted father of Deborah (William) Adalian Sr., Tina Van Vorst, Nikki (Jason) Wason, Jeffrey Van Vorst and John Conway. Brother of the late Marge Cheetham and Jane (Rod) Steinbach. Proud grandfather of William Adalian Jr., Joseph (Alicia Audino) Adalian and Jacoby Wason.

Funeral was from Rockefeller Funeral Home and interment in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Hooper's name to Rosies Love, 16 Locust Park, Albany, NY 12205.
