Alphonso Raus , VRHS Class of 1985

Rensselaer-It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alphonso Raus, age 55, who entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2023.

He is predeceased by his loving and adored father Tommaso Antonio Raus. He was a treasured family member and friend to many, with a trademark smile not soon forgotten.

Alphonso is survived by his mother Sandy; dear sons, Anthony and Michael (mother Georgina); brother Tommy; sister Rosaria, niece Valentina, nephew Giovanni, and many, many cousins and family, including aunt Pasqualina Crescenzi and family; the DiTullio and Pickett families; Mamma Rosa & Giuseppe DeThomasis; Lina and Antonio Treglia & family from Canada; aunts and an uncle in Italy; and dear friends Dawn and Amber Kelly.

A reliable friend to so many, Alphonso was just recently retired from the NYS Teachers' Retirement Association and looking forward to a summer with his boys boating, camping and going to SPAC concerts. He also enjoyed his time being part of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rensselaer.

A supportive brother, Alphonso or "Fonz" as he is often called, treasured the connection with his brother and sister, and being the best punching bag-Zio to his niece and nephew. A heart so big, Alphonso was always willing to help, whether it was to lend a ride, assist with a repair, or just offer a helping hand, hug and smile.

While the pain is heavy now, our family is comforted by all of the memories and times shared. Rest in peace Dad, Son, Brother, Zio, Nephew, Cousin and Friend. We will never forget you.
