Nichols, Thomas A. ROME N.Y. Thomas A. Nichols, age 79, of Rome passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018. He was born May 1, 1938, in Rensselaer, a son of the late Martin and Evelyn VanValkenburgh Nichols. Thomas was united in marriage to the former Joyce Waits in Biloxi, Miss. He was an electronics engineer at the 485th at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring after many years of service. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Albany. Thomas enjoyed all sports. He was an avid golfer and a dedicated Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and Penn State, sports fan. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Joyce and many good friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Nichols and a brother, Donald Nichols. Funeral services were private with no calling hours.
