Robert "Bob" J Dickert , VRHS Class of 1957

Dickert, Robert "Bob" J. WILTON After a busy and productive day, Robert J. Dickert, "Bob," passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 4, 2018, to the shock and sadness of his family.

Born to Robert and Mary (Hughes) Dickert on December 19, 1939, Bob was raised in Rensselaer. He graduated from Van Rensselaer High School in 1956, where he served as class president and Prom Prince. He saw active duty and served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Cuban missile crisis, deactivating in 1966. Bob began his professional career in data operations with Matthew Bender and Company and ended his 30 year career at Fleet Bank, both located in Albany.

On January 6, 1968, Bob married Mary Harriet Murray in Hoosick Falls and together they had two great children, Catherine (Jonathan Holt) of Albany and Amy (Andrew Klos) of Clifton Park; two awesome grandsons, Nicho and Robby; as well as his brother Fred (Pam) of Colonie, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Edward. Bob was an avid sportsman both as a participant and spectator.

He was a loyal Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing and loved all creatures, even the annoying squirrels who raided his beloved garage only to be squirted by the dreaded spray bottle. Burial is at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cambridge immediately following the funeral Mass.
