Doris (Vierling) Wysocki , VRHS Class of 1942

East Greenbush - Doris V. Wysocki, 97, of East Greenbush, passed away Saturday, July 8th 2023, at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home. Doris was predeceased by her husband Henry, Daughter, Patricia Daniels; son in law, Bill Daniels, Grandson, Scot Daniels, and Sister, Ruth Barnes. Survivors include her son Henry and his wife Jeannine, grandchildren Mark Daniels (Randi), Nicole Shasteny(Kurt), Brett Wysocki, Rachel Wysocki, and Garrett Wysocki, and her great -grandsons, Cole and Chad Daniels.
Doris was born in Albany, NY the daughter of Otto Vierling and Gertrude (Kolb). She grew up in Rensselaer, NY where she made many lifelong friends. She graduated from Van Rensselaer High School in 1942. When WWII ended , she and her husband married, and set up their lifetime home in Hampton Manor and had a family. They always opened their home to the many neighborhood kids and friends. It was the Kool-Aid house of "The Manor"
Doris was a business manager for Ferry Street Terminal and Transfer for 30 years, while also being a homemaker. Doris was a lifetime member and active participant of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rensselaer, which has merged with and is currently Hope Lutheran Church in North Greenbush. She was also an avid golfer and bowler. She was also a world class traveler. She visited places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Tahiti, Panama, Europe and numerous cruises. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Family gatherings were always accented with her Mint Mousse pie and Green Jello Salad. Second to her love of her family was her love of cats and all other animals. Doris would rescue any stray cat in the neighborhood. Even the non strays would gather in her yard for a good feeding!
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
