Edwin Handford , VRHS Class of 1944
Edwin F. Handford, 98, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday, August 10th 2024, at home. Edwin was born in Rensselaer, NY, the son of the late Benjamin and Ruth (Morrill) Handford. Uncle Ed loved his family, the Yankees, horse racing and was incredibly proud of his career. He was a Manager of Computer operations for Albany Medical Center, spent time at Boeing in Seattle, WA and was also a tax accountant. He was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer. Including his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Catherine (Mooney) Handford, his brothers Benjamin Handford and James Handford. Edwin's passion in life was his lifelong marriage to his wife Katy as they enjoyed over 65 years together. They loved to travel throughout the US as well as Europe. Edwin was an avid rifleman and brought home the top prize for many years at his gun club. Beloved Uncle to Charles (Meagan) Handford, Vicki (Paul) Capel, Susan (Michael) McCabe, David Handford, Jeffrey (Cindy) Handford, Bruce (Margaret) Handford, Barbara (Mark) Callahan, and Beth (Robert) Brown and many great nieces and nephews. Our family is incredibly lucky and thankful to have Josephine Potts and Maureen Pierre in our lives. They provided home care for Uncle Ed over the past several years. Friends and family are invited to call from 1PM-2PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 2PM. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery.
