Diana L (Oxley) Allen , VRHS Class of 1952
Diana Oxley Allen passed peacefully, on July 24, 2024, at Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy, N.Y. Born on May 6, 1934, she was the daughter of William and Leona Oxley. br> Diana was raised in Rensselaer, and graduated from Van Rensselaer High School, where she met her husband, Thomas Allen. They were married in 1955, and lived in Rensselaer and North Greenbush their entire lives. Diana worked for a variety of organizations, including the Rensselaer City School District, Federal Grain Inspection, and Department of the Army. She was an active member of Broadway United Methodist Church, in Rensselaer, and First United Methodist Church of East Greenbush. Diana sang in many Capital Region choruses over the years, including the church choir, the 500 voice Festival of Praise ecumenical choir, and the Sweet Adelines chorus. br> She was an avid N.Y. Mets fan, and enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends well into her later years. She was also a volunteer for Make-A-Wish NENY for many years. br> Diana was predeceased by her husband, Tom. She is survived by her children, Cindy (Kevin) Conley, Timothy (Kirsten) Allen, David (Mary) Allen, and Jeffrey (Becky) Allen. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marjorie Plantz; brother-in-law, Ron Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Diana was predeceased by her sisters, Marilyn Miller and Joanne Lebrecht. br> We would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor, unit A-1, for their loving care of mom over the past several years. br> Burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery. br> In lieu of flowers, if desired, please consider a donation to First United Methodist Church, 1 Gilligan Road, East Greenbush, N.Y. 12061.
