Nancy Ann (Pollicino) Bates , VRHS Class of 1969
Bates, Nancy NEW PALTZ Nancy Bates of New Paltz, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family. She was 59. Daughter of Rocco and Michelena Dragonette Pollicino, Sr., she was born on November 24, 1951 in Albany, N.Y. She was married to Robert L. Bates on August 27, 2005, who survives at home. "Nancy was a loving wife, mother and sister. She loved her cat "Rambo" and the colors and smell of lilacs. She'll be deeply missed by all." She was a 1969 graduate of Van Rensselaer High School, Rensselaer, N.Y. and retired from the New York State Education Department. In addition to her loving husband, Robert; she is survived by her children, James Carpenter of East Greenbush, Scott Carpenter (Lacey) of Marietta, Ohio; step-children, Steve Bates (Tamara), Eric Bates (Allison), Michelle Gozza and Jennifer Bates; grandchildren, Abigail Bates and Dakota Houck; sister, Rosanne Mancini of Salem, N.Y.; brother, Rocco Pollicino, Jr. (Lee) of Scotia, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. Memorial visitation was held at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550.
