William F Schroeder , VRHS Class of 1963

RENSSELAER William F. Schroeder, 72, of Rensselaer died suddenly Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his Florida residence.

William was born in Ft. Smith, Ark. The son of the late Edward and Eleanor Schroeder.

William was a graduate of Rensselaer High School, class of 1963. He was the piping superintendent for Tougher industries for 40 years retiring in 2010 William was a member of Local 7 Steamfitters union where he was also an apprentice teacher. William was the driver of car #28 at Lebanon valley Speedway for Schroeder Greene racing '67-95. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many days hunting and fishing with his son and lifelong friend, Wayne Bentley. He was also a member of the Adirondack Woodsman. William loved to spend his summers with his grandchildren fishing and boating at his camp on Methodist Farm on Crooked Lake. He was also a coach for Rensselaer Pop Warner for many years. William is survived by his wife, Patricia (Massara) Schroeder; two daughters, Kristine (Kevin) Kretzschmar and Diana (Ian) Edmond; and one son, Mark (Lisa) Schroeder; brother of David E. (Nancy) Schroeder. Grandfather of Ryan, Tyler Schroeder, Emily, Andrew, Joshua Kretzschmar, Jackson, and Lillian Edmond. William is also survived by his faithful companion, Lizzy; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private at convenience of family at a later date.
