Peter Giordano , VRHS Class of 1949

Peter Louis Giordano was born on June 21, 1931, in Bronx, New York. He passed away peacefully at home in Winter Haven, FL, on July 23, 2024, with family by his side. He was 93. Peter graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He was the Business Manager for Rensselaer City Schools for several years. After moving to Winter Haven in 1979, he was the Purchasing Agent for Polk Community College until his retirement. He spent many years of retirement cruising to many ports throughout the world with his wife of 62 years, Anna, and at times other family members to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays. Peter loved to read and play tennis, including participating in the Polk County Senior Games for many years. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, and he was extremely proud of his children's accomplishments as a lawyer, an engineer and a teacher. Peter was a Member of the Cypress Gardens Knights of Columbus and enjoyed helping with their charitable activities. Peter is remembered for his kind and gentle nature. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna, his parents, Nicholas and Florence Giordano, and his first-born son, Nicholas Martin Giordano. He is survived by his children: Ann Marie Gilden (Ian) of Heathrow, FL, Nicholas Retter Giordano (Michelle) of Decatur, AL, and Martina Giordano of Winter Haven, FL. Beloved grandson Peter Joshua "PJ" Giordano (Kimber) of Decatur, AL, and beloved granddaughter Adrienne Rozario (Nigel) of Littleton, CO, step-great grandsons, Braden Peralta and Noah Dunlap of Decatur, AL, and adored great grandchildren, Luna Giordano, and Anna Grace and August Rozario. Interment in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
