COBLESKILL Randall R. Schroeder, 88, of VanDeusen Dr. died Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at his home following a brief illness. Randy was born January 11, 1929, in Albany; a son of Ernest and Helen (Williams) Schroeder. He graduated from Van Rensselaer High School and later began a long career with Niagara Mohawk Power Co. Mr. Schroeder started in the mail room and worked his way up earning his final position as district manager with Niagara Mohawk in Cobleskill where he retired in 1988 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Cobleskill Rotary Club and the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club. He enjoyed woodworking, making and re-furbishing furniture, bowling, and assisted in the building of his home on VanDeusen Dr., where he also custom built his deck. Randy married Margaret (Worden) Schroeder on October 30, 1948, and, following retirement, enjoyed spending winters in Jensen Beach, Fla. She predeceased him on October 10, 2010. Survivors include his children, Richard A. (Iiris) Schroeder of Helsinki, Finland, Brian W. (Deborah) Schroeder of Cobleskill, Debra L. (James) Peters of Damariscotta, Maine, and Karen S. (Bart) Guetti of West Lebanon, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Tuomas and Viena Palojarvi, Eric and Seth Schroeder, Erika, Matthew and Andrew Peters and Kalan Guetti; six great-grandchildren, Gwen, Elizabeth, Alexander, Jenna, Lucas and Julian; along with his brother, Roger (Judy) Schroeder of Summerville, S.C.; three nieces and his best friend, Barbara DuPilka of Jensen Beach, Fla.
