Ruth (Reitfort) Powers , VRHS Class of 1946
Ruth E. Powers, 84, passed away on April 12th at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Troy, New York. She was the daughter of Charles and Grace Rietfort and was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School in 1946. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle in Schenectady, NY. She married Raymond L. Powers in 1947. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond, of 64 years. She was devoted to her five children, Thomas Powers, Nancy (Powers) Rafi, Janet (Powers) Occhino, Margaret (Powers) Darling, Joan (Powers) Wilkins; grandchildren include, Rebecca Powers, Jessica Heeger, Amanda Furia, Muhammad Rafi, Sarah Rafi, Julie Occhino, Alex Darling, Samantha Darling, Rachel Murray, Marissa Chakmakas, Andrew Chakmakas, Ryan Wilkins, Brendon Wilkins; and four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Chelsea, Walter, Josephine.
