Blake Leslie Jimpson , VRHS Class of 1969

ALBANY -- Blake Leslie Jimpson, 70 of Albany, passed away denly on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Blake was born in February, 1951, at Brady Hospital in Albany. He attended Rensselaer Public schools. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force. After leaving military service, Blake was employed at New York Telephone Comp any/Verizon. He worked at Verizon for 38 years until his retirement in 2003.

Blake was married to his high school love Patricia Ann Hughes-Jimpson for 32 years, but their love for one another spanned a total of 53 years. Blake and Patti were inseparable and raised a beautiful family. They frequently made their home available for special occasions and large family gatherings. Over the years there were several four-legged family members who were beloved by Blake and the family - Pepper, Alexander, Abby, Regis and Molly. Blake was known for his culinary skills especially grilling. He enjoyed gardening, babying his household plants and collecting African American figurines.

Blake is survived by his wife Patti (as Blake called her); two daughters, Leslie Cancer (Issac) and Nate'lege Hassell (Oscar); three grandchildren, Hadassah, Hannah and Jonah; two sisters, Reverend Gloria Jimpson and Kelly Handy (Isaac); his beloved great-nephew Silas Whisenant of Virginia Beach, Va.; and "Care Whisperer" and best oncology nurse ever, his niece Eryn Giordano.

The burial service was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
