Alumni Association Hall of Fame Award in Memory of Pat Lewis ’67
In 2019 Robert "Pat" Lewis of the class of 1967 was posthumously inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame. Pat's son, Scott Lewis and his wife Julie, wanted to further honor him by establishing a yearly financial award of $1,000 to a student meeting the following qualifications:
- 4 year Rensselaer High student.
- Student Athlete
- 2.5 or higher GPA
- Moving on to college/service academy
- Involved in a community/ volunteer organization example Boys and Girls club or Special Olympics, coach or volunteer youth sports.
The first such award was bestowed to Nate Breedon, a senior, at his graduation in June 2019. Nate comes from a long time family in Rensselaer and went to high school at RHS all 4 years. His community service includes coordinating with Military Moms in Action from Averill Park helping with their military supply drive. He also worked at his church for events and activities.
He was on the football, cross country, and wrestling teams all throughout high school.
Nate (second from right below) was accepted and attends Norwich University and has just been accepted into their Army Ranger program (only 10 out of 60 applicants were chosen).
