Gregory C Lischak , VRHS Class of 1974

Lischak, Gregory C. Sr. EAST GREENBUSH Gregory C. Lischak Sr., 59, of East Greenbush died on Sunday morning, December 7, 2014 after a short battle with cancer.

Greg was survived by a plethora of friends and family, including three sons and six grandchildren. Greg would like to be remembered not in death, but in the life he lived. He battled alcoholism as a young man and the scourge of a disease stripped everything from him. Greg lost his job, possessions, family and ultimately his freedom after his fourth DWI. Greg however, was a man of great will. Through sheer determination, and with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous, he regained his family and friends and went on to help others who were similarly afflicted. Greg thoroughly enjoyed the last 16 sober years of his life. He set the example for all of us. Never be afraid to give a second chance. Live life for the present, because you never know how long you have. Recognize stubbornness because it is the enemy of family. Dad, we miss you already. May your line always be tight and shot always clear. Love, the boys.
