Nancy L (Brown) Cooney , VRHS Class of 1961
RENSSELAER -- Nancy L. Cooney, 78 of Rensselaer, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at home. Nancy was born in Albany, to the late Ulster and Grace Brown of Rensselaer. She was married to the late Richard T. Cooney. She is survived by her loving children, Tracy Farley (John Sargent), Rich and Kerry Cooney, Pamela Cooney and Krista Cooney. She was the special MeMa of Matthew Cooney, Alissa Cooney, Colton Cooney, Arianna Bruno and Ezekiel Cooney. Nancy is also survived by her sister Lorraine Doedema (Dan); brothers, Stephan Brown and Richard (Barbara Jo) Brown; many nieces and nephews; her wonderful neighbor and good friend Linda Smith; her longtime friends, Lesa Spath and Gloria Mccue; and her best canine buddy Jake. Nancy worked for the Rensselaer School District and volunteered her time for the school's athletics association for many years. Nancy also enjoyed camping on Schroon River with her friends and family. Nancy will be fondly remembered for her chocolate chip pan cookies! We would like to thank Annie Anderson and Michelle Thomas for the loving care they gave Nancy these past few months. Nancy had a heart of gold and touched many lives throughout her life. Friends celebrated the life of Nancy Cooney, a mother, sister, aunt, mema and friend of many at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., with burial in the New Rural Cemetery.
