Helen Barbara (Quade) Wozniak , VRHS Class of 1941
Helen Barbara Quade Wozniak, 93, died peacefully at Saint Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on August 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Helen and George Quade; and sister of the late George (Buddy) Quade. She was predeceased by Matthew, her husband of 68 years, who she met while volunteering at the U.S.O. in Albany during World War II. Helen was born in New London, Conn., and graduated as valedictorian from Rensselaer High School in 1941. She worked for many years as a secretary at a local insurance company and then at H.A.N.Y.S., retiring in 1988. Helen was a proud member of the D.A.R. and a founding member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Colonie. She loved traveling in the U.S.A. and researching her family genealogy. Helen is survived by her children, Laura Face (Glen), Paul Wozniak (Lynn-Marie Sattler) and Alan Wozniak (Margaret Dano), six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Helen's family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Saint Peters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their tireless compassion and care for both Matthew and Helen over the last several years. They welcomed Matthew and Helen and their family with open arms. Interment is at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY.
