Smithies, Pamela J. Ackerman GUILDERLAND Pamela J. Ackerman Smithies, age 61 years, of Guilderland passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie. She was born in Albany was raised in Rensselaer, attending the Rensselaer school system and lived in Guilderland for the past ten years. Pamela was an interior decorator working for Sears and last worked for the Christmas Tree Shop. She enjoyed her profession, traveling, especially to Hawaii and Ocean City, Md., macrame and bowling. Wife of 40 years to John Smithies of Guilderland. Mother of Mathew (Sherry) Smithies of Averill Park. Grandmother of Amber Smithies of Averill Park. Daughter of the late LeRoy F. and Shirley Smith Ackerman. Sister of Frank L. Ackerman of Ballston Lake. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, State and Lodge Streets in Albany. Interment in Bloomingrove Cemetery, Defreestville.
