Mary Louise (Gardinier) Biddle , VRHS Class of 1936

Biddle, Mary Louise RENSSELAER Mary Louise (Gardinier) Biddle, age 88, of Diamond Ridge Apartments in Troy, formerly of Rensselaer, N.Y. died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Van Rensselaer Manor.

Born in Albany on December 9, 1918, she was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and Albany Business College. At the time of her retirement, Mary had been a hearing secretary for the NYS Civil Service Commission. She was an active member of Church of the Redeemer, having been a choir member, church school teacher and member of the vestry. She served as president of the Albany Deanery Women of the Episcopal Diocese, was past president of the Redeemer Guild for Women, Altar Guild Directress and for many years, volunteered as parish secretary. She was past president of the Van Rensselaer School P.T.A. and a life member of the N.Y.S.P.T.A.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Charles Henry Biddle, and a sister, Hilda Dorn, of Calif. She is survived by a son, Paul (Lucille) Biddle of Las Vegas, Nev., and a daughter, Mary (Richard) VanLeuven (VRHS '66) of Potsdam, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Laurie (Ron) Sabol, and Dawn and Darcy Biddle; two grandsons, Mark VanLeuven of Troy and Paul (Melissa) VanLeuven of Troy; two great-granddaughters, Taylor Biddle of Las Vegas and Lucy VanLeuven of Troy; a niece and several cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Redeemer, officiated by Canon Clinton Dugger. The family requests that those wishing to remember Mary make gifts to Church of the Redeemer Memorial Fund, 1249 3rd St., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
