Victoria "Bigs" A (Sanchez) Fluery , VRHS Class of 1983

Fluery, Victoria A. SAND LAKE Victoria A. Fluery, 55, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Raised in Rensselaer, she is the daughter of Mary Burgey Sanchez of Castleton and the late Daniel J. Sanchez Sr. Vicky was better known to her friends and family as "Bigs." She was big on sports, playing softball and volleyball for Rensselaer High School in her youth and she enjoyed the game of golf in her adult life. She followed the New York Jets and was a devoted member of Red Sox Nation. She was artistically talented and used that talent to restore Mustangs, build one-of-a-kind wooden furniture, and learn calligraphy. She also created and operated Rensselaer T-Shirt Graphics for more than 17 years providing custom screen printed and embroidered apparel to many local groups and organizations. She was known for tinkering like her father and if something was broken, chances are she could fix it. Those who were blessed to know Vicky will remember her for her unwavering loyalty, kindness and generosity. After meeting her husband at Lebanon Valley Speedway, Vicky became his faithful race fan and never missed one of his races during his entire 20-year stock car driving career. Vicky was an animal lover but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her cherished family and most especially her three beautiful grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Vicky is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Mark A. Fluery, Esq.; her loving daughter, Patricia "Patty" (Adam) Girard; her cherished grandchildren, Addison, Paityn and Aiden Girard; and her siblings, Sandra (Bob) Collins, Daniel J. (Linda) Sanchez Jr., Fran (Les) Alberti, the late Thomas V. (surviving Sandi) Sanchez, the late Mary (surviving Chuck) Bauer, Michael (Pat) Sanchez, and Beatrice Sanchez; her mother-in-law, Patricia A. (the late Arnold) Fluery and her sister-in-law, Kim Fluery. Vicky is also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services for Vicky were held at the First United Methodist Church, 1 Gilligan Road, East Greenbush. Interment in the New Rural Cemetery.
