James "Jimmy" Joseph Roberts , VRHS Class of 1972

Roberts, James J. CASTLETON James Joseph "Jimmy" Roberts, age 60, of Castleton and formerly of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, December 4, 2014 after a long illness.

He was born on November 11, 1954 in Albany, and was son of the late Eva and Ray Roberts of Rensselaer. Jimmy worked at Reliable Bros. in Green Island for over 40 years, before retiring in June 2013. He lived in Rensselaer all of his life until moving to Castleton five years ago. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Champlain, at the family camp, and spending time with his children and granddaughters. He truly was a devoted father and grandfather. Jim was quite the jokester, loved humor, especially his signature eyebrow move.

Father of Amy Roberts of Rensselaer, Megan Roberts of Castleton, Sara Bollman (Lawrence) of Rensselaer, James R. Roberts (Sarah) of Rensselaer and Lucas Roberts of Castleton. Adored grandfather of Isabelle, Madeline and Eva. Brother of Pat Jackson, Donna Burnham, Carol Goldberg, Debbie Kannes (Ken), Wayne Roberts (Dawn), Billy Roberts (Sharon) and the late Raymond, Thomas and Ronald Roberts, Marilyn Keneston, Joan Clark and Darlene Reed. He is also survived by his cherished friend and former wife, Terri Roberts, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., on Monday, December 8, 2014, at 9 a.m., and 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer, where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
