East Greenbush-Larry A. Benedetto, age, 61 years of East Greenbush passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from ALS. He was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, lived most of his life in Rensselaer before moving to East Greenbush 18 years ago. Larry was employed by the Painters and Tapers Local Union 201 for 34 years and he worked as a painter and taper for the Albany City School District for 26 years. He was an avid NY Yankees baseball fan and NY Giants football fan. Larry was an enthusiastic coin and antique collector. He was very passionate about politics. Loving son of Joyce Bonacker Benedetto and the late Anthony Benedetto, Sr.; beloved husband of 17 years of Cheryl A. Sayers Benedetto; loving step-father of Justin Koreman and Katrina (Thomas) Fredericks; grandfather of Caleb and Olivia Fredericks; brother of Annmarie Benedetto, Patricia (Lee) Jackson and Anthony (Kathy) Benedetto, Jr. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Monday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. John The Evangelist and St. Joseph Church Herrick Street Rensselaer, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
