Joan C (Meissner) Benesch , VRHS Class of 1952

EAST NASSAU -- Joan C. Benesch, 90 of Hoag's Corners Road, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the home of her son after a long illness. Born in Albany, Joan was the daughter of the late Richard and Charlotte LaBonte Meissner and the wife of Edward P. Benesch. Joan was raised in Rensselaer and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954. After her marriage, Joan lived on Long Island before moving back to the area in 1972. She was a secretary at the former Ted Dobush Insurance agency in West Sand Lake. She also worked at the Butler & Buchanan Insurance Agency in Rensselaer and drove school bus for the Averill Park School District. Along with Ed she enjoyed camping and traveling. Joan was the sister of the late Donald and Roland Meissner. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her daughter, Linda (Timothy) Warren of Watertown; her sons, Edward Benesch of New Brunfield, Texas, Matthew (Michele) Benesch of Nassau and Richard (Tammy) Brown) Benesch of East Nassau; her brothers, Richard (Beverly) Meissner of East Nassau and Thomas (Kathy) Meissner of Sand Lake, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park.
