James "Jimmy" Steven White, Jr , VRHS Class of 1969

White, James S. Jr.
RENSSELAER - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, James "Jimmy" S. White Jr. on February 2, 2023.
Growing up in the 1960s in Rensselaer, he was a "character" in his own right, with the black hair of his father and the blue eyes of his Irish mother. He was the mischievous one of the six kids.
He was educated at St. John's Grade School and Van Rensselaer High School. A lover of the outdoors, whether ice fishing on Lake Champlain with his dad or boating on Lake George and trout fishing with our old family friend, Mary Trimble in the Kinderhook Creek, it is there where he was his happiest.
After a few years in the Navy having been stationed in Norfolk, Va., he made his way to the Chicago area where he was an agricultural inspector with the USDA, residing in Hammond, Ind. Jimmy had a passion for a good NASCAR race where you could always find him watching the "trailer park 500" on any given Sunday afternoon. He was also a Yankees fan like his dad, much to the chagrin of his three brothers.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James S. White Sr. and Agnes Joyce White; and his daughter, Michelle. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce (John) Ryan of Dalton, Mass., and his twin sister, Janice (Robert) Brock of Naples, Fla.; and his brothers, Joseph of Schenectady, Jerry (Michele) of East Greenbush, and John (Barbara) of Rensselaer. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews to whom he was fondly known as "Uncle Jimmy," Matthew, Monica Ryan Hilton, Seth Ryan, J. P. and Mike Daniels, Zachary White-Stellato, Andrew, Ian, Adam and Emily White, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
We would also like to thank the staff at Baptist Health and Nursing Rehabilitation Center, especially the N2 unit.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, February 7, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8, at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Greenbush.
