Elenor (Foley) Rickert , VRHS Class of 1928

Rickert, Elenor EAST GREENBUSH Elenor Katherine Rickert, age 93, died September 8, 2013 on the anniversary of her husband's death, at Evergreen Commons, after a brief illness.

She was born in Albany and was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. She was employed by The Bayer Plant in Rensselaer and General Electric in Schenectady during World War II. In August of 1945 she married Stephen J. Rickert and began raising a family. Together they enjoyed many winters and made many lasting friendships in St Petersburg, Fla. Stephen passed away in 2001. Elenor was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Clinton Heights. She was a former member of the Sherwood Park Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Sherwood Park Home Bureau and a leader of the Sherwood Park 4-H Club. For many years she operated a successful wedding, birthday and anniversary cake business out of her home. She had a great zest for life and quickly made friends wherever she went.

She was the youngest child of the late James T. and Emma J. Spoo Foley; sister of the late Lillian M. (John F.) Spanfelner, Bernice J. (Stephen A.) Connors, Arlene M. (George P.) Keegan, James D. (Helen D.) Foley, Dorothy L. (Emerson L.) Ostrander and John F. (Dorothy) Foley. She is survived by her children, Stephen M. Rickert Sr. and his wife, Alona of Averill Park, Sharon P. Rickert of East Greenbush and Chris J. Rickert and his wife, Frances of East Greenbush and grandchildren, Stephen M. (Angelina) Rickert Jr., Michael T. Rickert, Christy M. Rickert (Steve Pluto) and dear friend Joe Dalton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the second floor Greenbush Lane staff at Evergreen Commons, Dr Burke, the PT & OT staff and the Palliative Care staff for their kindness and the loving care they provided.
