Nancy E (Garrett) Dornan , VRHS Class of 1957
EAST GREENBUSH Nancy E. Dornan, 73, of East Greenbush died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Nancy was born in Albany and her passion was working as a special education teacher for North Colonie Central Schools, retiring in 2002 after 33 years of service. She co-founded the job placement program and the special needs bowling program at Shaker High School. Nancy worked at Rensselaer County ARC. She played the piano for the youth choir and was head of the youth fellowship group at First Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer. Predeceased by her mother, Bertha Garrett. Nancy is survived by her four daughters, Kelly (Glenn) Dornan-Hewitt, Nancy (Bill) Beauregard, Michelle "Mickey" Frank Jenkins and Suzanne (Peter) Maxwell; brother, Thomas (Lynne) Lawracy and daughter Brianna; lifelong friend, Micki Wells; nine grandchildren, Eddie Chenette, Wray, Richard and Taylor Tibbetts, Kristina, Frankie Jenkins, Rebecca, Christopher Hewitt and Alicia Buckton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
