Robert Y Thibault , VRHS Class of 1957

EAST GREENBUSH Robert Y. Thibault, 68, of East Greenbush, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 19, 2006 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy, N.Y. on May 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Joseph Paul and Katherine M. (Yarwood) Thibault, he grew up in Rensselaer. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Van Rensselaer High School and also a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College. He served in the United States Coast Guard for over 20 years. He retired in 1977 as a chief petty officer. After his retirement from the Coast Guard, Bob was an accountant for Langan Auto Group in Latham until his retirement in 2002. Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara (Walker) Thibault; son, Thomas P. and Kimberly (Caldwell) Thibault of Castleton; daughters, Dawn M. and Ronald Shepard of Bluffton, S.C., Donna L. Thibault of Corning, N.Y. and Danielle L. and Christopher Waring of Clifton Park; grandsons, Corey H. Thibault of Corning and Thomas C. and James R. Thibault of Castleton; granddaughter, Kayleigh Waring of Clifton Park. Bob is also survived by his sister, Mary K. and Raymond Frankoski of Rensselaer and their children, James and Jill Frankoski of East Greenbush and Lisa Vogel of Albany and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob was a life member of the Melvin Roads American Legion Post #1231 in East Greenbush, where he is a past commander. He also was a past commander for Rensselaer County American Legion. Bob was an active member of the Capitol Area Chief Petty Officers Association, Coast Guard Tug Association, USS Slater and Lightship Sailors Association. He was also very proud to belong to the THIBAULT Association of North America. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Wednesday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment with full military honors will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.
