Kenneth D Wheeler , VRHS Class of 1939

RENSSELAER Kenneth D. Wheeler, 91, of Rensselaer died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina after a long illness. Kenneth was born in Albany, N.Y. to the late George and Isabelle Mc Ginnis Wheeler. Ken graduated Rensselaer High school and later sat on the School Board. He retired in 1985 as a Electrician for Conrail Rail Road and prior to that he worked for International Harvester. He was an Aircorp veteran of World War II and a Member of the Gerald O'Neil Post of Rensselaer. He was a communicant of Broadway United Methodist Church in Rensselaer and was very active in the United Auto Workers and the IBEW. Predeceased by his wife, Gwendolyn Winnie wheeler and two brothers, Richard Wheeler and George Stanley wheeler. Kenneth is survived by his one daughter, Karen L. (Dennis) Courcelle of Hampstead, N.C.; two sons, Dennis A. (Regina) Wheeler of Schodack and Keith D. (Sandra Baldwin) Wheeler of Cohoes; two sisters, Clara (Donald) Kullman of Schodack and Marge Secor of East Schodack; seven grandchildren, Corwin (Katie) Hildebrandt, Kristopher (Layla) Hildebrandt; Seth Courcelle, Todd (Barbara Cannon) Wheeler, Daniel (Amber) Wheeler, Christa Wheeler and Bryan Wheeler; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua and Arabella Hildebrandt and Ryder Wheeler. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
