Bette Jane (Vadney) Van Alstyne , VRHS Class of 1939
Vadney, Bette Jane RENSSELAER Bette Jane Vadney, 92, formerly of Rensselaer died on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing home. Born in Albany to the late Howard M. Van Alstyne and Annie Gray Stewart. Bette was a graduate of Rensselaer High, class of 1939, and a 1943 graduate of Russell Sage with a bachelor of science degree in business. Bette worked for the New York State Comptrollers office for 25 years as a state auditor from 1945-1970. Bette was a member of the Episcopal diocese of Albany and Order of the Eastern Star of East Greenbush - Philipine Chapter No. 256. Bette was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph Heineman and Albertus C. Vadney. She is survived by her second cousin, Carol Vandyke Powell, residing in Woodstock, Vt., and dear friends and caretakers, John Shultis and Patricia "Patti" Papa. Interment is in Blooming Grove Cemetery.
