Joanne E. Oxley Lebrecht, age 86 years, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017. She was born in Cooperstown, on February 21, 1930, and married her high school sweetheart, Ray, on September 3, 1949. She graduated as valedictorian from Van Rensselaer High School, class of 1948. Joanne attended Oneonta College and was a member and organist of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Rensselaer, until its closing. She worked for 35 years at the old Van Rensselaer School as head cook. Daughter of the late William and Leona Saxton Oxley; beloved wife of Raymond W. Lebrecht; devoted mother of Susan Abston, Victoria Lebrecht and Craig (Darlene) Lebrecht; loving grandmother of Carrie (Rudy) Rodriguez, Ken Abston, Rebecca (Mark) Scarborough, Jennifer Tallman, Amanda (Jeff) Fortman, Richard (Bri) Lebrecht and Bonny (Jerry) Sargent; sister of Marilyn (Ronald) Miller and Diana (Thomas) Allen; sister-in-law of Marion Williams, Florence Mahoney, Bradley (Marie) Lebrecht, Roy (Judy) Lebrecht and the late Alfretta Reed and Charles Lebrecht. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
