William "Bill" B Irving , VRHS Class of 1969
Westmere-William B. Irving, 53, passed at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital, Monday November 1, 2004 with his family by his side, after a long battle with brain cancer. Bill was the son of Anna M. Irving and the late William E. Irving. Bill was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School, Rio Grande College, Rio Grande, Ohio and Russell Sage College, Troy, NY. Bill was a member of the Troy City School District for 30 years as a health teacher. Part of that time he served as Varsity Golf Coach and Coordinator of Big Ten Golf. He was a former instructor for the Albany and Rensselaer County DWI Program. Bill was actively involved for many years with the Troy Albany Youth Hockey Association and was the official scorekeeper for the Capitol District Islanders and Albany River Rats retiring at the end of the 2003-2004 season. He was a member of the Westmere Volunteer Fire Dept., Leonardo Da Vinci Lodge Rensselaer and a communicant of the Church of the Redeemer in Rensselaer. Beloved father of Timothy W. (fiancee Ruth Anne Bergman) of Plattsburgh, NY, Eric R. (close friend Ali Bouck) of Westmere, NY and William C. of Cohoes. Brother of Deborah J. (William) Reimann of Rensselaer and Mary J. Irving of Cobleskill. Uncle of Shawn C. Boule and Helena Mar Reimann both of Rensselaer. Also survived by his former spouses Nancy L. Hayner and Celine L. Boule. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Thursday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Memorys Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Troy High School Varsity Golf Team, 1950 Burdett Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 or to the Troy Albany Youth hockey, Cougars c/o Dr and Mrs. James Furlong Oak Hill Road Sand Lake, NY 12153.
