Margaret "Marge" (Hunt) Sloan , VRHS Class of 1947

Albany- Margaredian Sloan, lovingly known as "Margaret", 88, entered into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Margaret was born on September 16, 1928 in Danville, VA, to the late Joseph and Habrella Hunt.

Margaret graduated from Van Rensselaer High School and went on to work for the NYS Department of Labor, where she ultimately retired from working. She received a certificate of appreciation for her dedicated service from Governor Mario M. Cuomo in 1988. In 1947, Margaret married the late Harry Sloan, and in their marriage they bore their two beloved daughters: Linda Sloan, and Susan Sloan-Moore. Margaret was a life long member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she was a charter member, a mother of the Church, and dedicated to the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hats Association. In 1972, Margaret met and fell in love with the late Elkins Taylor, and so they joined their lives and family together.

Along with her two daughters, Margaret is survived by her grand children: Mia Moore, and Tiffany Moore, two great grand children, along with many other loved family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, husband, and recent companion, Margaret is predeceased by her daughter: Ivy Pugh-Nichols; siblings: Debose Hunt, Joseph Hunt, Francis Hunt, and Arnold Hunt, and her niece: Betty Jean Hunt.
