Irving, Anna M. (Meurs) RENSSELAER Anna M. Meurs Irving, age 86 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Eastern Star Nursing Home in Oriskany, N.Y. She was born in Rensselaer, daughter of the late Mary Jane (Elbert) and Cornelius Meurs Sr. on June 28, 1927 and had been a resident of the city all her life. Anna is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Bill) Reimann of Rensselaer and Mary Jane Irving of Cobleskill; four grandsons, Timothy W. Irving (Ruth Anne Bergmann) of Mass., Eric R. Irving of Guilderland, William C. Irving of Glenmont and Shawn C. Boule (Sarah Katz) of Castleton; one step- granddaughter, Helena M. Rambone of Brant Lake; one great-grandson, Carter J. Irving and one great-granddaughter, Addyson M. Boule; two step-great-grandchildren, Johnathan R. and Joanna M. Rambone. Predeceased by her husband, William E. Irving; son, William B. Irving; sister, Dorothy Wheeler Streever; and two brothers, Cornelius Meurs, Jr. and John Elbert Meurs. Anna was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School and she worked for the Rensselaer City School District as a secretary from 1945 to 1995. She was a communicant of the Church of the Redeemer in Rensselaer, serving over the years as a member of the choir, altar guild, taught Sunday school, president and treasurer of Redeemer Guild, senior warden, junior warden and vestryperson. Anna was a member of the Van Rensselaer Star Chapter 256 Order of the Eastern Star serving as district deputy grand matron of the Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady District, worthy matron and necrology committee. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth Capital City Court 15, serving as royal matron and a grand representative. past member of AARP 1441, Rensselaer Historical Society and Rensselaer BPW. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Saturday morning at 9 and 10 at the Church of the Redeemer, 1249 Third St., Rensselaer. Relative and friends are invited and may call the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
