Richard Nucci , S&F

JUPITER, Fla. -- Richard "Dick" Nucci, 92, the son of Felice and Carmela (Ferrara) Nucci, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida after a short period of declining health on May 5, 2021. Dick was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Marie (Juber); his son, Peter, and several older brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Maria (Lenseth) and his sons, Michael and Thomas; along with his two surviving sisters, Marion (Gerace) and Theresa (Ferro). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick grew up in Watervliet and was a communicant at St. Brigid's Church. He graduated from C.B.A., class of 1947 and Siena College, class of 1953. While at Siena, he participated in the ROTC program-attaining the rank of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon graduation. He served honorably in Korea for two years - leaving the service after attaining the rank of first lieutenant. After returning home, he received his master's degree in education from Siena College, obtained his school administrator certification, and started a career and family in Delmar. He also attended St. Thomas Church. Dick was a long-time educator starting as a history teacher and ultimately becoming the principal of the Rensselaer Junior-Senior High School. His career spanned several decades starting in the mid-fifties and concluding in 1986. After leaving the school district, Dick went on to become the director of Albany County Head Start for several more years before fully retiring to Florida. In Florida, he enjoyed, golf, softball, and visits from his family. Contributions may be made in Richard's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
