Dorothy Marion Dutcher , VRHS Class of 1932

Dutcher, Dorothy M. RENSSELAER Dorothy M. Dutcher, 93, formerly of Green Street in Rensselaer, died at the Resurrection Nursing Home in Castleton, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born, raised and lived her entire life in Rensselaer. Dorothy graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1932 as Valedictorian, from NYS College for Teachers in Albany in 1936 with a BS in commerce, and was a member of the Beta Zeta Sorority. She taught in junior college 1936-37, worked for State Education Department 1937-39, New York State Teachers Retirement System from 1939, retiring in 1976 as executive assistant. She was a lifelong member of 1st United Methodist Church in Rensselaer, superintendent of Sunday school, church treasurer, lay leader, member of the administrative council, and board of trustees, past queen Cyrene Temple #18, Daughters of the Nile, past president and membership chairman city of Rensselaer Historical Society, member and past president of United Methodist Women of 1st United Methodist Church. Predeceased by her parents, Louis O. and Jennie V. (Hall) Dutcher; a sister, Marie Elizabeth Dutcher; two brothers, Louis H. Dutcher and Arthur M. Dutcher; her niece, Betty Lou Lehner; and she was the granddaughter of the late John Hall, former mayor of city of Rensselaer. Survivors include nieces, Jean Beiermeister, and Marion Schulz; grandnieces, Nancy Ciprioni, Lynn Beiermeister and Marion Robichaud. Also survived by great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral 11:30 a.m. on Saturday from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y. Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Greenbush Cemetery, East Greenbush. The family requests that those who wish to remember Dorothy, make contributions to Rensselaer Revitalization Alliance Bldg #1, 20 Forbes Ave., Rensselaer, NY 12144, in her memory.
