Erik Wayne Shatraw , VRHS Class of 2001
Eric Shatraw of Albany died unexpectedly on Wedensday, January 1, 2020 at his home. He was 36 years of age. Born in Albany on May 5, 1983, Eric was the son of Wayne Shatraw (Brian Nopper) and Pamela J. (Goodson) Shatraw. He was raised in Rensselaer and attended Van Rensselaer Elementary School and Rensselaer High School. He furthered his studies at Hudson Valley Community College. Eric served our nation honorably in the United States Navy. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his brilliance and for his appreciation of sports. He played high school football and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. In addition to his parents Eric is survived by his children, Arrianne Shatraw, Ember Shatraw, Lily Jean Shatraw Nopper, Elizabeth Briggs and Matthew Eric Shatraw Nopper; his brothers, Timothy Edward Shatraw and Cory Raymond Shatraw. Eric is further survived by many additional family and friends. Interment is in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery where Eric will be laid to rest with Navy honors.
