Lawrence L Maxwell, Jr , VRHS Class of 1963
Lawrence L. Maxwell, Sr. 82, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. br> Larry was born in Albany, N.Y., and was the son of the late Alva Slauson. He grew up in Rensselaer, where he met the love of his life, Hendrika "Rickey" Maxwell, who passed away in 2024. Together since their teenage years, they shared 60 years of marriage. They lived in Rensselaer for many years, before settling in the home they built together in East Greenbush, where they spent the past 48 years. br> Larry "Pops" will be remembered for helping others. He cherished time spent with his six grandchildren, Toni and Julia Lettrick, AJ and Madison Ficarra, and Taylor and Reese Maxwell. He enjoyed giving lawnmower rides, taking them fishing, and keeping everyone well fed by the pool. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the backyard, and fixing things in the garage. br> Larry retired after many years as a salesman with R.B. Wing & Son. br> In addition to his wife; he was predeceased by his sister, Paula Eriole. br> Survivors include his two daughters, Hendrika "Rickey" (Mike) Lettrick and Jennifer (Anthony) Ficarra; his son, Lawrence "Larry" (Cassie) Maxwell Jr.; and his brother, Richard Davis. br> Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery. br> Contributions in Lawrence's memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
