Walter Fonda , VRHS Class of 1962
Walter Fonda, 81, of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, in St. Peter's Hospice. Walter was born in Albany, N.Y., the son of the late George and Ruth (Carhart) Fonda. He was the proud V.P. of the Rensselaer County Motorcycle Association, as well as a longtime member of the Legion Riders at Melvin Roads and the Sons of the American Legion. Walter was a true biker at heart. He was a self employed body repair technician for Walter Fondas Used Car Lot and Body Paint for years. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Gloria (Pannitti) Fonda; son, Byron Fonda; daughter, Stephanie Fonda; and granddaughter, Haven Kaylor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Mark and Richard Fonda. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful and caring staff on the 6th floor of St. Peter's Hospital, specifically staff of the rooms 6601 and 6628, you all deserve the sunflower recognition.
