Theresa "Terry" (Smallenbroek) Worden , VRHS Class of 1945

WEST SAND LAKE -- A longtime resident of Rensselaer County, Theresa K. Worden, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her West Sand Lake home, after a long illness.

Theresa (Triijntje) was born in Hoogezand/Sappemere, Holland, on August 21, 1927. In 1929, she arrived in America with her parents, Jacob and Caroline Smallenbroek, through Ellis Island, settling in Rensselaer. Her husband, Howard E. Worden, predeceased her in 2006. They also lived in New Port Richey, Fla. for several years and made many friends.

She is survived by her three children, Jan E. Solimine, Gary R. Worden, his wife Eve, and Clayton H. Worden; as well as her sister, Joyce M. DuBois. Her brother, Theodore Albertus Smallenbroek, predeceased her. Her six grandchildren called her Tutu; John Worden, Sarah Worden, Tiffany Worden Kuiphoff, Evan Solimine, Travis Worden and Dylan Worden; along with three great-granddaughters, Liberty and Sage Worden, Grace Kuiphoff, and soon to be great-grandson, Theodore Worden.

Being creative all her life, she was a sewer, crafter, refinished furniture and was a great cook and animal lover.
