Robert "Roy" Leroy Mallory , VRHS Class of 1946

Robert Leroy Mallory "Roy" age 87 of Latham, entered into rest April 5, 2016, at Albany Medical Center.

He was born in Albany on November 21, 1928, the son of the late Albert J Mallory and Ruth Teeling Mallory. He was raised in Rensselaer, he graduated from Van Rensselaer High School. Roy was president of his senior class. Roy retired in 1989 from Verizon after 43 years. He was Plant Manager. A lifelong member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Albany where he served in many capacities including Trustee and church treasurer. Roy was always busy with some project. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and helping family, friends and the church with various projects. He enjoyed the 21 years of foster parenting for newborns.

He was predeceased by his sisters Eileen Dunbar, Babara Foust and Doris Rutolo and his brothers Albert Mallory and Richard Mallory. On June 6, 1953, he was joined in marriage with Elizabeth L. Kilby Mallory, it was a loving union of 62 years.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter Irene Spencer (David) Mohawk; two sisters, Shirley Anne (Harold) Tilly, Averill Park, Marion Fuss, Rensselaer and brother Paul Mallory, Liverpool; two grandchildren, David (Susan) Spencer, Little Falls, Jennifer (Joseph) Nicastro, Huntersville, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Brian Spencer, Emily Talbot, Julia, Gianna, Joseph Nicastro. Many nieces and nephews. Funeral services at Bowen and Parker Brothers Funeral Home with Reverend Kathy Donnelly officiating. Interment at Albany Rural Cemetery.
