Joseph Nunzio Giagni , VRHS Class of 1958

East Greenbush- Joseph Nunzio Giagni, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 30, 2024. He was born in Albany to the late Benjamin and Marion (Winne) Giagni.

Joe was the proud owner of Peanut Land Express at the Empire State Plaza in Albany for 38 years, which was a special spot to enjoy a sweet treat. Upon retirement, Joseph found a new purpose and joined the Rensselaer City School District as a school bus driver for the next seven years, where he forged many lasting friendships.

In 1958, Joe married the love of his life, Isabelle N. (Fiacco) Giagni, and they were blessed to celebrate 65 years of marriage together. Their union was a testimony to love, commitment, and unwavering support. They were introduced to each other by Isabelle's cousin, Victor Cipollari, who became Joe's best man at their wedding.

In addition to his loving wife, Isabelle, Joe is survived by his two daughters, Jacqueline (Vincent) Lomonoco and Debra Giagni. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Gail, and nephews Dean and Todd Giagni; his cousins, Joe, Marge, and dearest Patty, whom will forever hold fond memories of their time together as well as his close friends, Judy, Armand, Juju, Betty, and Dennis. He was predeceased by his brother Bernadine Giagni.


Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue in Rensselaer, on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 9:30am. Following the service, Joseph will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
