Marcia J (Smith) Reimann , VRHS Class of 1952

Rensselaer- Marcia Reimann, 89, of Rensselaer, passed away on March 8, 2024, after a stubborn battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Marcia was born on June 12, 1934, to Robert and Henrietta Smith in Rensselaer. After graduating from Rensselaer High School, she followed multiple career paths including working for the New York Telephone Company, her family's pet store in Albany, many happy years with the Rensselaer City School district, and most importantly lifelong success as a wife, mother and homemaker.
While in high school, Marcia met the love of her life, Bill Reimann. They married in 1954 and spent countless happy years together eventually raising three children, Bill, Kathie and Rick.
Marcia was a wonderful cook and an even better baker. She was incredibly artistic and musically talented. She adored beaches, dolphins and hearts, not necessarily in that order. She loved to travel with family and her close-knit group of lifelong friends to places like Cape Cod, the Bahamas, Florida, Las Vegas and more. Slot machines throughout many casinos feared her presence. Ultimately, Marcia's favorite place was her family Camp on the Schroon River in Warrensburg, NY where she loved to sunbathe, swim, go tubing, paddleboat, play games and fish. She allegedly spent many years chasing down a particularly nasty pickerel named Bad Bob with no success.
Marcia was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, William E. Reimann, her parents Robert and Henrietta (Venema) Smith, her sister Diane Crosby, her daughters in law Deborah Reimann (Irving) and Joann Reimann (Butler). She is survived by her children, Bill Reimann of Brant Lake, NY, Kathie Van Dyk (Rob) of Schodack, NY, Rick Reimann (Tracy) of Saratoga Springs, NY, her grandchildren Scott Van Dyk, Craig Van Dyk (Courtney), Helena Rambone, Jack Reimann and Shawn Boule (Sarah), nine great grandchildren, sisters Laura Birmingham and Bobbi (Roberta) Barhydt, as well as several nieces and nephews. Marcia is also survived by countless friends and acquaintances and presumably Bad Bob the pickerel.
Marcia's family would like to recognize and thank the wonderful nurses, staff, and caregivers at Ludder's Country Home in West Sand Lake, NY and especially at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, NY, along with The Community Hospice, for their help, kindness and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marcia's family on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY. Marcia's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Bloomingrove Cemetery, Bloomingrove Dr. North Greenbush, NY.
